Never believe the "Get Rich Quick" headlines.Today the internet is flooded with bells and whistles promising a song. If is sounds too good to be true - it probably is. There is no replacement for hard work. There is no magic pill or instant formula... "just add water" only pertains those little dinosaurs that come from the gum ball machine.
Never overlook the "fine print."Sales copy can be amazing! It can make your feet tingle and draw you in with excitement and allure. But when the color fades and the band goes home, has anyone read the fine print? It is imperative to take responsibility and know the details that are being offered by a company. It may be the back office dull drum but without it you won't be making a fully informed decision.
Don't give way to immediate sales pressure. If you are faced with "Click in 10 seconds or the page will self destruct!" RUN. Any substantial and fair business will allow you a 24 - 48 hour turn around to make a decision. If you are offered that, take it and do your due diligence. Read, make calls, do Google searches...use the time wisely. Then, you will feel comfortable with your choice.
Check your belly barometer. What does it feel like? Fortunately, in my opinion, we are built with a mechanism that lets us know when we are about to dive head first into the wrong pool. It's known as the belly barometer. Be mindful of what you are feeling while you read and research a company? Are you overly excited, palms sweaty, thinking of the vacation you'll take with your first check? Well, it's OK to dream, but if your belly barometer is telling you something is off, it might just be off.
Simply walk away. Take a moment or two to remove yourself from the situation. Take a deep breath, count to ten and if it helps consult with someone you trust. Then when your return, you'll know if you want to proceed with the given course, or move on to the next.
Don't loose your shirt.Opportunity knocks - you answer. Opportunity reels you in - you follow. Then, opportunity asks for your money. SSKKRRREEECCHHH! Hold on a minute. What's this talk about money?
Let's face it, any traditional business venture from owning a hot dog stand to opening a major franchise will cost an investment, usually quite a substantial one. There are other businesses such as internet based and network marketing business that can offer a much less expensive option. Understand this; it has to be an investment that you can afford. Be sure to leave something in the pot to grow and support you. Be careful not to sink every last penny into your first day. Be calculated, and wise. It may be an old adage but, it's tried an true...slow and steady wins the race.
